COTRATROC-wolf story- Prologue

When her pups were born, she couldn't have been happier. Her life was perfect. She had the perfect mate and two beautiful pups. It didn't even matter to her that their birth was forbidden. Nor did it matter to her mate. As far as they were concerned, Aura and Inu were already born, and there was nothing anyone could do about it.

But they were wrong.

Her name was Yasha. She was a white wolf from the Sky Rhelm. His name was Sato. He was a brown wolf from the Earth Rhelm. There were three other Rhelms: Water, Fire, and Darkness. It was forbidded for wolves of other Rhelms to mate, and Yasha and Sato had broken the law.

The pups were only a week old. Yasha was nursing them in Sato's Rhelm. Yasha looked down at their wriggling, brown and white bodies. Aura looked just like her, and Inu looked just like Sato. Except their eyes were green. Sato and Yasha's eyes were yellow. Yasha's heart ached as she thought about a secret she'd known before they were born. If the pups knew it, it would not only change their lives, but the fate of the world itself. But Yasha thought they'd be safe if hidden from the truth.

Sato came back from hunting one day. But he wasn't dragging prey as Yasha had expected. He was dragging himself. He was covered with blood, and his remaining eye was frantic.

"Sato!" She rushed to him, leaving her pups in the den, "What in the name of Mundus has happened to you?"

"I was attacked..." he breathed. He couldn't get out all he wanted to say. He had to keep breathing between sentances, "By... the Caliga."

The Caliga? she thought No! Her pups were supposed to be safe as long as they didn't know the Profecy. And now the very reason for the secrecy was creeping up on them.

"The pups..." Sato choked, "You must... Hide them,"

"Who would take them?" she asked, "They are half Sky, half Earth."

"My s-sister wouldn't mind ... taking Inu," he said, "She's always wanted... her own pup,"

Yasha nodded. "I will bring Inu to Sakura," she said "and Aura to... my mother."

"Will she accept her?" Sato asked.

"She must." She must.

"I will watch ... Over them," Sato said, with his last breath. His eyes closed.

Yasha had no time to mourn her mate. She had work to do. She picked up Inu by the scruff, prayed to Mundus and Tenshi that Aura would be safe untill she returned, and brought Inu to the wolf named Sakura.

When she saw the wolf,to beautiful to be of Earth, come to her, naturally Sakura wasn't as friendly as possible, but she could see the turmoil in Yasha's eyes.

"This pup," yasha began, "He is your brother's. We cannot protect him any longer. You must keep him safe."

Sakura ha many questions for the Sky wolf, but instead of asking them, she agreed to take care of Inu. But before Yasha left she asked,
"Sato... He is no longer?"

Yasha could not look into her eyes. "I'm sorry,"

Yasha had convinced her mother to take Aura. When she asked why, Yasha could only say "I can't protect her, so you must."

Yasha knew what she had to do. She sat in front of her den. "Mundus and Tenshi," she adressed the Wolf Gods, "Help Sakura and Halo watch over the pups called Inu and Aura."

Silently she added, They must never know their destiny.
She looked up at the slowly rising moon, and waited to die.

Suddenly, the bushes surrounding her rustled.
